Beautiful visit to an organic farm in Llubi


Today, I decided to drive all the way up to an organic farm situated at Llubi, Mallorca, in order to buy some fresh organic products.

This beautiful farm is called Finca Son Barrina and is located on the road that goes to Llubi, km 6.

Son Barrina offers organic fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey and a wide variety of rice, grains, nuts, beans, frozen food, tofu and meat products.

I was impressed by the lemon trees, there were so many...And I even found out that the new flavour of Flor De Sal, Limón & Lavanda, uses the organic lemons that come from Son Barrina!


Since we are talking about lemons, I would like to write a little bit about lemon tree and Lemon Essential Oil.

The lemon tree is a small tree, growing up to 20 feet in height, and it is thought that it was native to India and was introduced to Italy later on. Lemons grow wild in the Mediterranean region, specially in Portugal and Spain. They are also cultivated worldwide, specially in Florida and California.

Lemon Essential Oil - Purifying, fresh, happy

Lemon essential oil is a citrus oil and it is obtained by cold expression of the fresh lemon peel. It has anti-infective, anti-viral, digestive, astringent, tonic, anti-septic and anti-coagulant properties. Lemon is used on the treatment of colds and flus, since it is capable of reducing temperature (for serious conditions always seek medical advice).

Lemon essential oil can also be used in the treatment of hypertension, digestive problems, warts and verrucas. It is believed that lemon oil can be helpful in cases of depression and insomnia.

Caution: lemon essential oil is photosensitizing, avoid sunlight exposure during and after its use.

For use in aromatherapy, lemon oil should be obtained from organically grown fruits, which are pesticide-free. Industrially cultivated citrus plantations are usually sprayed with heavy doses of toxic chemicals.
